Peking Opera is one of the five most widely known operas in China and is regarded as the quintessence of China. Centered in Beijing and spread all over China and the world, Peking Opera becomes an important medium for introducing and disseminating Chinese traditional art and culture. Peking Opera was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the World on November 16, 2010,

On March 31, 2019, we invited the Chinese Opera Club of Austin to give a seminar on Peking Opera. From its historical background, repertoires, and genres, to its roles, props, costumes, make-ups, stage setup, music instruments and band, and so on, this seminar covered everything about Peking Opera. The lecturers also gave audience a live performance.
